Little Solsbury Hill
Rising just outside Bath, Little Solsbury Hill is an Iron Age hill fort whose grassy ramparts crown a flat-topped plateau with commanding views across the Avon valley. Made famous beyond archaeology by Peter Gabriel's 1977 song, the hill rewards a short but brisk climb with a profound sense of ancient occupation — the earthwork defences are still clearly readable in the landscape. On a clear day the panorama stretches from Bath's golden Georgian rooftops to the Cotswold escarpment beyond.
