Petworth House
Petworth House in West Sussex is one of England's great treasure houses, a late seventeenth-century baroque mansion set within a deer park landscaped by Capability Brown. The house holds one of the finest art collections outside the national museums, including a celebrated group of paintings by J.M.W. Turner, who was a regular guest here. The Carved Room alone — with its Grinling Gibbons limewood carvings — is worth the journey.
- Outstanding collection of Turner paintings
- Magnificent Grinling Gibbons Carved Room
- Capability Brown deer park
Best for art lovers and those who appreciate the very finest in English craftsmanship.
