Rosetta Cottage
Rosetta Cottage is a Victorian villa in Cowes with an outsized place in history. During Cowes Week in 1873 the American Jerome family rented it, and within days Lord Randolph Churchill had proposed to Jennie Jerome in its garden, sealing the match that would produce Winston Churchill. Today the building serves as National Trust holiday accommodation, lovingly kept with its sense of seaside elegance and its remarkable backstory.
