Battle of Homildon Hill
English longbowmen destroyed a Scottish raiding army before it could close. The hill above Wooler is now called Humbleton.
On Historic England's Register of Historic Battlefields — a designated area of land, not a ticketed attraction. Much of it is working farmland or open country; check access and keep to public rights of way.
