Boarstall Tower
Boarstall Tower is a medieval moated gatehouse, raised in the early 14th century to guard a manor that has long since gone. Unusually grand for its date, it survives largely unaltered, its battlemented towers mirrored in the surrounding moat. The house it once protected was demolished centuries ago, leaving the gatehouse standing alone among gardens. It opens on select days, a rare and atmospheric fragment of the Middle Ages.
