Gawthorpe Hall
Gawthorpe Hall is an early-17th-century house near Padiham, its tall central tower and symmetrical front the work of the same era that produced England's great Elizabethan prodigy houses. Charles Barry remodelled the interiors in the 19th century, leaving rich plasterwork and panelling. The hall holds the Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth collection, a renowned assembly of textiles, embroidery and lace.
