Paxton's Tower
Paxton's Tower was built around 1806 by Sir William Paxton, an East India merchant, as a memorial to Lord Nelson after Trafalgar. Its odd triangular plan, turreted corners and prospect room were designed to impress guests at the neighbouring Middleton Hall estate. Standing alone on its hill above Llanarthney, the folly now offers some of the widest views over the Tywi valley and the National Botanic Garden of Wales below.
- Triangular Nelson memorial folly
- Tywi valley panorama
- Hilltop banqueting room
Best for big views and a curious slice of Georgian showmanship.
