St Cuthbert's Cave
St Cuthbert's Cave is a deep overhang of weathered sandstone hidden in the Kyloe Hills of north Northumberland. Tradition holds that monks rested here in 875 while carrying St Cuthbert's remains away from Viking raiders on Lindisfarne, and the saint himself may have sought solitude in these hills. Surrounded by pine and gorse, with the cave roof propped on a single stone pillar, it remains a peaceful place of pilgrimage and reflection.
