Darrow Wood
Darrow Wood holds the earthworks of Denton Castle, a Norman motte and bailey raised in the years after the Conquest. Only the grass-covered mound and its surrounding ditch survive, with a horseshoe-shaped bailey alongside, but the scale still reads clearly on the ground. Quiet and little-visited, it is a scheduled monument cared for by the Trust within a small patch of pasture and woodland.
